born on the island of Crete Kyriakos Roussias American scientists visited the places of his childhood for decades. These are remote villages on said Greek island. Here the people live primarily on sheep and have in their habit seems quite archaic features. Roussias has that, he never really pushed familiar world gradually during his stay in the United States. Except for a few evenings with folk music and a corresponding amount of "raki", and sporadic phone calls with his elderly mother he has banned his background from his present life. There are reasonable grounds! Over the past fifty years had Roussias family mourn alone seven members. Victims of the feud they have all become, in other words, they have killed each other.
The author tells of barren landscapes and small settlements of shepherds and their toil, of irritating backwardness of archaic way of life. Described the people speak little to each other. The men of this region have a dark black appearance, dressed, armed to the teeth, they are at the bottom of a past world. They obey prehistoric rules that conflict with state law. They spend much of their life in prison without actual Guilty to be. Driven by revenge lustful women, they obey the laws of the old family feuds.
also Roussias father was killer and victim of the feud once and is a heavy moral burden for the son, who himself can not speak with his best friend on this issue. The Island law requires of him that he avenged the murder of his father. How Roussias deal with the demands placed on it, especially when it is compressed considerably during his visit to island, read the last pages of the gripping novel written ....!
Ioanna Karystiani has written an interesting book that deals, not least the question of whether we can close the potential gap between home and later life so that the result of reconciliation has to content?
